Robb & Jenni’s Evergreen Farms Wedding

October 8, 2024

Robb & Jenni were something truly special. Jenni’s laugh, Robb’s shenanigans, they are perfect for each other. Robb and Jenni reach out to me last year for their wedding photography. Our first shoot together was for their adventure session at the Alrin POW WOW Bird Mural. You can view that here. We had an absolute blast creating moments and tossing some color powder.

Fast forward to 7/29/24 at Evergreen Farms, and the laughs and good time kept a rolling. When I work with my couples I send them a little questionnaire so I can showcase their amazing day. It’s a perspective to the who, what, where, why, when behind how they choose to celebrate on their wedding day.

Robb & Jenni, you are a truly amazing couple, and I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be the part of it that gave you the memories to hold onto forever.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Jenni: getting ready in the bridal suite, spending special time with her close friends, wear her (awesome) wedding dress, get all the family and friends in one place dancing.

Robb: The first look, getting everyone together in one spot, big ol party. It’s hard to pick one.

What inspired your wedding décor? Did you have a theme in mind?

Rustic chic to fit the venue, but thematically we wanted to represent our quirky selves. The centerpieces and related book-look things are based off our love for reading. The window came from Robb’s parents’ barn and he fixed it up nice (sorta) so it could be one of those window signs, which is a knockoff version of what his family business does for a living. The vivid colors were chosen for the fun and cheerful way that we are (well, Jenni anyway haha).

Why did you pick the venue that you choose?

Killer bridal suite! Attention to detail in its creation. A restored old building is cool (kind of what Robb does for a living). Have everything on site, the space all weekend, welcome party the night before etc. And the pretty outdoors area.

Is there any particular vendor that you are really exited to have for you wedding?

Not to be a “kiss-ass”, but we are very excited about the photos! Especially after the Adventure Session we had with you.

We were pretty excited about the food. Kelli is a small time business, running it out of her home. It felt like really tasty food without the snobbiness that can come with wedding caterers.

Tell us about the food/drink at your wedding

We settled on Vodka/Lemonade/Cranberry for Her Drink, a “Tipsy Two Step” we called it and for His we went with a whiskey sour named “Drankelag” (Dutch for ‘drinking party’, the name of a folk metal song by a band named Heidevolk. I swear I ran this by Jenni and she rolled with it). We made sure that the father of the groom (the especially grey beardy man) had his Heineken and the best man and one bridesmaid could have their preferred Jameson and Ginger.

we had a flexible buffet to suit a variety of palates with a simple standard (chicken) and a tasty main alternative (sausage/pepper/onion) and some awesome apps – I hope you got to taste the meatball/spaghetti bites.

Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests with?

A bit of a silly one but Robb was really excited for everyone to see the groomsman’s ties and socks.

We wanted to wow the guests with the bride’s elegant walk down the bridge to the septagon, a touching ceremony (nailed it), and a great dance party on the big dance floor (also nailed it).

Anything else you want to share?

We were excited about the flexibility of the venue. Everything was easily accessible. If people wanted to hang outside for a drink/a butt/fresh air, it was a nice space to do so. Inside offered areas that were a little quieter upstairs or great views of people having a blast on the dance floor.
