Venue 01

The Lounsbury House

Ridgefield, CT

From the street, it looks like something out of a movie. Those white columns, the big wraparound porch, and architecture that’ll make you stop before you even walk through the door. Inside is even more impressive — warm wood floors and tall windows let in a TON of natural light. And that center staircase!! Come on.

You can get ready upstairs with the bridal and groom suite (solid light and great aesthetics), have your ceremony on the front lawn or tucked into the garden out back, and roll straight into the reception without a bunch of moving parts. One location. No shuttles. No weird gaps.

The ballroom can handle 150 guests easy — big enough for a party, but not so big it swallows the energy. Dinner, toasts, and then full send on the dance floor. If you want to tent the lawn for more space, you can. If it rains, the inside plan still works. No panic needed.

Pricing:Starts at $8,000; most couples invest up to $12,000

Address:316 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877

Phone:(203) 438-6962

Photography Tips

For photos, Lounsbury is INSANE. This place has so many cool spots — the porch and gardens at golden hour? Chef’s kiss. The staircases, the side rooms, even the hallways — there’s texture and depth everywhere. Rain or shine, this place slaps.

Venue 02

The Lace Factory

Deep River, CT

Elegant wedding reception setup at The Lace Factory in Deep River, CT

The Lace Factory, in Deep River, offers one of the absolute best industrial wedding venues in the state. When you think of industrial aesthetics, the first thing that comes to mind — at least for me — is brick and hardwood floors. Well, The Lace Factory has that and then some. As soon as you walk in, you’re hit with natural light pouring in from a room surrounded by large windows.

That’s great for your wedding photos too. A mid-day reception fills the room with natural light, and as the sun goes down, everything picks up that warm sunset glow. The high ceilings leave room to add flowing fabric, and the large reception area is easy to customize. The Lace Factory accommodates up to 225 guests.

Pricing:Rental $5,000–$9,900; catering from $139/person (includes hors d’oeuvres, entrées, dessert, 4.5-hr open bar)

Capacity:Up to 225 guests

Address:161 River Street, Deep River, CT 06417

Phone:860-526-4445

Photography Tips

The Lace Factory has so many good locations for creative portraits, both inside and outside, at any time of day. If you like a low-light setting, nighttime is the right time here. And being able to have your ceremony and getting-ready at the same location is fantastic — a lot less stress, a lot more photos.

Venue 03

Stonehurst at Hampton Valley

Hampton, CT

Stonehurst at Hampton Valley wedding

Stonehurst at Hampton Valley is one of those places where you walk in and just know. It’s a spot where your wedding feels personal and unique — both a rustic and estate vibe rolled into one.

Here’s what makes it special: the property sits on 90 phenomenal acres, and you get to choose between two locations. The Mansion is perfect for an intimate crowd of up to 120 guests — ideal if you want something cozy and personal. If you’re planning a big celebration, the Barns can host up to 300 people.

Pricing:Receptions from $4,000 off-season / $5,500 peak. Ceremony +$500–$650. Bar $250/person. Average couple spends ~$25,000.

Capacity:120 (Mansion) / 300 (Barns)

Address:119 Providence Turnpike, Hampton, CT 06247

Phone:860-377-4816

Photography Tips

Stonehurst is simply incredible — one of the best venues I’ve ever photographed at. There are so many places for awesome photos. If you have a fall wedding in October, I HIGHLY recommend an outside ceremony so you can have that amazing sunset hit it like the photo above.

The Mansion side is my favorite for photos because that’s my vibe, but if a rustic barn is more yours, the Barn side is fantastic too. The front gate, the staircase, the open field, and the woods by the river all make for amazing couples photos.

Venue 04

The Aria

Prospect, CT

The Aria Connecticut wedding venue

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels straight-up classy without being over the top, Aria Wedding & Banquet Facility in Prospect is worth checking out. It can handle everything from a cozy gathering of 75 to a full-blown 500-guest party.

The ballrooms are next-level with high ceilings, giant chandeliers, and huge arched windows that let in all the light. Outside, the gardens are perfect for photos, and they have a new chapel for ceremonies. It’s basically a one-stop shop for your wedding.

What makes the Aria worth it to me is that you’ve got a bridal suite and a groom’s lounge to get ready in, plenty of parking, and a team that knows what they’re doing. That all comes in clutch when you want a stress-free day.

Pricing:Packages from $76/person; includes dinner, champagne toasts, passed apps, custom cake. $1,000 deposit. Kids under 5 free; ages 6–10 half-price; vendor meals half-price.

Capacity:75–500 guests

Address:45 Murphy Rd, Prospect, CT 06712

Phone:(203) 758-0096

Website:ariabanquets.com

Photography Tips

The Aria has it all when it comes to locations for seriously epic photos — ballrooms, the main foyer, a piano hallway and staircase, a chapel, an outdoor pillared gazebo fit for a Roman god, several fountains, and gardens.

You really can’t go wrong having a wedding here at any time of day. The only downside: there could be another wedding happening at the same time as yours, so a few photo spots might be occupied.

Venue 05

The Woodwinds

Branford, CT

The Woodwinds Connecticut wedding venue

The Woodwinds in Branford is the kind of spot that just gets it. It’s easy, it’s stylish, and it checks a lot of boxes. There’s a cute gazebo, a waterfall that actually looks great in photos, and those twinkle lights in the trees make the outdoor ceremony pop. Inside, you’ve got this dramatic staircase that’ll make your entrance CINEMA.

The food is next-level. Chef Silvio Suppa runs the kitchen, and people seriously rave about his menus — so your guests will be happy. The Woodwinds keeps it simple but still delivers on the looks. It’s flexible, works for a ton of styles, and is an easy yes if you want something that feels polished but not pretentious.

Pricing:Outdoor ceremonies from $500 (+$1/chair); reception packages $75–$99/person

Address:29 School Ground Rd, Branford, CT 06405

Phone:(203) 481-6577

Photography Tips

I like the Woodwinds because it has a good mix of gorgeous outdoor spots and polished indoor setups — marble floors, chandeliers, and a staircase.

There’s a cool pond area with a bridge and fountain, plus trees and a gazebo with twinkle lights. There’s also a nice hill area that, with a good sunset, makes for some really cool photos. Whether it’s sunny or you’re stuck inside, you’ll still get amazing photos here.

Venue 06

Allen Hill Farm

Brooklyn, CT

Allen Hill Farm Connecticut wedding venue

If you want that laid-back country vibe without overcomplicating things, Allen Hill Farm in Brooklyn, CT has got you covered. The barn fits up to 150 guests and has that classic New England post-and-beam vibe with modern updates.

The barn isn’t the only thing that makes Allen Hill Farm awesome — how about a fantastic view of the Quinebaug River? There’s also a cute orchard and a field with the most amazing sunset in town. If you’re after a place that’s relaxed, beautiful, and lets you do your thing, Allen Hill Farm is a solid pick.

Pricing:Starts at $5,400; most couples spend about $5,750

Capacity:Up to 150 guests

Address:502 Allen Hill Rd, Brooklyn, CT 06234

Phone:860-779-0542

Learn more:Allen Hill Farm wedding guide →

Photography Tips

Allen Hill Farm has, without a doubt, one of the best barn venues to celebrate at in the Brooklyn area. I like the venue — not just because it’s 5 minutes from my home — but because there are several places great for couples photos: an orchard, a view of the Quinebaug river, and wide-open fields perfect for sunset photos.

Granted, there’s only a bridal suite, so both of you can’t get ready onsite — but there are plenty of local places to stay nearby, so travel won’t be too difficult.

Venue 07

The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station

Haddam, CT

Fall wedding at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station

The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam is, by far, one of my favorite Connecticut wedding venues. It’s not just the venue that stands out — the staff is really on point. The Riverhouse shows off views of the Goodspeed Opera House and the Haddam Swing Bridge.

The grand ballroom fits up to 300 guests, with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in tons of natural light. The Riverhouse also has suites for you and your partner to get ready in, which is a huge plus — less traveling from an external ceremony location and more time for family and friends.

Pricing:Wedding packages $109–$169/person; $650 ceremony fee (includes chairs, coordination, rehearsal)

Capacity:Up to 300 guests

Address:55 Bridge Road, Haddam, CT 06438

Phone:860-345-4100

Website:theriverhouse.com

Photography Tips

This venue is really spectacular. It has everything you need in one location, so you don’t have to worry about traveling between spots. The covered ceremony area is awesome — not just for rain or bright sun, but at night, it’s one of the coolest photos.

The ballroom is very big and allows for easy moving around regardless of guest count. And the balcony makes for an awesome silhouette and entrance photo, too.
