Stonehurst at Hampton Valley sits on 119 Providence Turnpike, Hampton, CT 06247 in Hampton, Connecticut, about
15 minutes from Brooklyn where I am based. It is two venues on one property: a post and beam barn that seats up to 300, and a stone mansion built for closer to 120.

I have photographed weddings here. This is the practical guide I wish couples had before they booked, covering capacity, timing, what is included, and the part most venue pages skip, which is what the day actually feels like once you are in it.

StoneHurst’s History

First let’s take a moment to appreciate how StoneHurst came to be. Once an Alpaca farm with the main barn and mansion, in 2017 it was purchased and the incredible barn reception area was added through the meticulous work of Quiet Barn Restoration. In 2018, StoneHurst opened their doors to rock weddings, and in 2020, the mansion was given a total overhaul to ensure every corner of Stonehurst exudes grandeur and style. When you explore the grounds at StoneHurst, you can feel how every inch of the property was designed with weddings in mind.

The Barn at StoneHurst

The Barn is a remarkable and spacious venue capable of accommodating up to 300 guests (without the dance floor) or 250 guests (with the dance floor). With its unique charm and artistic flair, the Barns gorgeous post and beam reception room will leave you speechless. It is fully accessible for everyone and boasts the convenience of AC/Heat, ensuring a comfortable environment regardless of the weather. The Barn has got you covered ( pun intended ) with its exposed post and beam construction and amazing chandeliers. They’ve also got a cocktail room, an outdoor fire pit for those cozy moments. For those who can appreciate nature’s beauty, The Forest ceremony site will leave you in awe.

When it’s time to get ready for your wedding day, the dedicated wedding suite has your back. With access to the suite starting at 8 am on the day of your wedding, it comes complete with full catering to satisfy your appetite like true rockstars. Wedding time slots at The Barn start at 4, 5, and 6 pm. And if you want to keep the party going into the night, you have the option to extend the celebration if you kick off the festivities before 6 pm. Barn weddings are 5.5 hours long, concluding at 11:30 pm.

The Mansion at StoneHurst

The Mansion is a charming venue ideal for more intimate gatherings. With a capacity for up to 120 guests, it offers an exclusive and intimate setting and boasts a stunning post and beam Swiss chalet look with a jaw-dropping stone façade. As soon as you step through those wrought iron doors, prepare to be amazed! The grand entrance is incredible with beautiful stone fireplaces. A wedding at the Mansion will definitely  be an unforgettable experience that will leave you and your guests in awe.

The Mansion is fully accessible and equipped with AC/Heat, ensuring everyone’s comfort. The Mansion comes with your choice between the riverside or the serene greens as your ceremony site.

The wedding suite is available at 8 am on your wedding day. It provides the same excellent catering services you receive you would receive at the Barn to keep you energized and ready to make a grand entrance. Weddings for Mansion mirror those of The Barn, allowing you to select the most suitable time for your celebration.

To elevate your celebration even further, StoneHurst offers outstanding full rental options, including amazing round farm tables that add a touch of rustic elegance to your chosen venue site.

What a day at Stonehurst actually looks like

Here is the thing worth understanding before you pick a ceremony time.

Your suite opens at 8am. The reception ends at 11:30pm. That is a fifteen and a half hour window, and only five and a half hours of it is the reception.

Ceremony slots are 4, 5, or 6pm. If you take the 6pm slot, you have been getting ready for ten hours before you say a word to each other. That is a long time to sit in a room with your people and a lot of nervous energy, and it is usually the part you will underestimate. The 4pm slot leaves room for cocktail hour to breathe without eating into the dance floor later.

There is also a rule people miss: only weddings that start before 6pm can extend. If running late matters to you, the 6pm slot removes that option entirely.

The property is big enough that Stonehurst runs a trolley from May to October. If your ceremony is at the Forest site, build in the walk.

One more practical thing. Cleanup happens the night of. Anything you or your vendors brought goes home that night. Their staff helps, but decide in advance who on your side is handling it, because the answer should not be you at midnight in your dress.

It is a well run property with a coordinator included and the setup handled. It is just that a venue page tells you what is possible, and nobody tells you what it feels like to actually move through it.
