What Time of Day Is Best for a Proposal?
You really can’t beat that Golden Hour glow — what you might’ve heard called Magic Hour. It’s the hour before sunset (or after sunrise) when the sun puts out that warm, golden, absolutely-cinematic light.
It also means we can rely on natural light and don’t have to fuss with external flashes — which is good, because strobing your partner in the face right before they say yes is generally frowned upon.
Pro tip: time it to the sunset
You can totally propose at any time of day — but if the location allows it, aim for the 60-90 minutes before sunset. Check a sunset calculator for your exact date, then plan to pop the question about 20–30 minutes before the sun drops. That gives us light for the proposal and the couples session right after.
