Connecticut Engagement Photographer
For couples who want their photos to feel alive — not stiff, not posed, not “look here and smile.” Engagement photography that captures the two of you in your element.
Documenting You, In Your Element
My Connecticut engagement photography isn’t cheesy posing and landscapes. It’s about you two, in your world, doing something that actually matters to you.
Maybe it’s grabbing coffee or a brew at your favorite spot. Hiking that trail you always come back to. Dancing in your kitchen like no one’s watching. Whatever feels familiar, fun, and 100% you — that’s where the magic happens.
The best photos happen when you’re too busy living in the moment to think about the camera. My job is to make that easy.
Ready to Make Something Meaningful?
Engagement sessions start at $800. Available across Connecticut.
Let’s Do ThisHello There, I’m T.J.
I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Brooklyn, Connecticut — Marine Corps vet, husband, dad, storyteller. I’ve been shooting weddings and engagements long enough to know what works and what doesn’t.
My approach is loose, candid, and a little bit weird. We’ll laugh, we’ll explore, and you’ll forget I’m there about ten minutes in. That’s when the real photos start happening.
“We had so much fun working with him! At first I was a little shy, but he got me to just have fun with the photos and they came out really well. Definitely recommend!”— Hannah & Jake

Coastal cliffs, golden hour on the Long Island Sound, and a couple who actually had fun in front of the camera.

Let’s Do ThisEngagement Photography FAQs
Can this also work as a proposal session?
Absolutely. Booking an “engagement session” is the BEST proposal cover-up — your partner thinks they’re showing up for cute photos, not the question of their life. I’ll ask you about them ahead of time, help you build a personalized plan, and recommend vendors as needed. Want more on that? See the proposal photography page →
When should I schedule my engagement session?
At least two to three months in advance — especially if you need the photos for save-the-dates. Sooner is better if you have a specific season or location in mind.
What can I expect during the session?
A relaxed, fun experience. Real movement, real emotions, and just enough creative direction to keep things effortless. You won’t be standing in a field staring at the horizon — promise.
How do I view and download my photos?
You’ll receive a private online gallery to view, download, and share all of your fully-edited images with full printing rights.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes — please. Just let me know in advance so we can plan a pet-friendly location and time.
What about the weather?
When was the last time you said screw it and danced in the rain? It could be epic. But I get it — we can always reschedule for weather. Just give me a heads up.
Need a location?
I put together a complete guide to the best engagement session spots across Connecticut — beaches, vineyards, downtown spots, hidden state parks. Whatever vibe you’re going for, there’s a place for it.
